多読で英語力を上げよう（インプット仮説）　英語コミュニケーション学科

2021年度の2年生越智ゼミでは、ゼミ受講生の第二言語学習経験と第二言語習得研究を結び付けて学習しています。本日のテーマはKrashenのインプット仮説（Krashen, 1985）です。インプット仮説とはKrashenが提唱した5つの仮説の中で最も有名で重要な主張です。Krashenによると人が言語を習得するためには、学習者が現在身につけている言語能力より少し高いレベルのインプット（理解可能なインプット；i+1）を与える必要があるとしました。インプットが学習において必要条件なのは間違いありませんが、十分条件なのかは議論の余地があり、次回はその点について学んでいきたいと思います。
ちなみに、恵泉の1，2年の必修英語の授業ではこのKrashenのインプット仮説に基づいた多読を授業外の課題として1学期2万～3万語以上読むことを推奨・指導しています。
