The indigenous peoples of Australia have the longest histories and oldest cultures in the world. The three main aims of this course are to introduce students to:
1) their rich cultural heritage - their music, their art, their spirituality, their lives;
2) some of the major issues that have developed over the past 220 years since the arrival of/invasion by the British - their separation from their land, the Stolen Generations, lost languages, Reconciliation - and
3) their present condition and the problems they face in present day Australia.
